Saving people from the hassle of going all the way to Dubai Police General Department of Traffic to pay fines, Dubai Police has now made the service available at all its branches across the emirate.

The facility was first launched in six police stations in May and is now available at almost all police stations in Dubai, according to Colonel Naeem Mohammad Al Khateeb, Director of Revenue Management and Funds at the Dubai Police headquarters.

A dedicated counter with specialised personnel are available at each police station accept the payments of fines, which can either be made through cash or card.

The online modes of fine payments through Dubai Police website and Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) websites as well as through RTA customer service centres would continue to be available.

According to the official, the new system has already had a positive impact as a significant number of people preferred to pay their fines at their nearest police stations, particularly people from Jebel Ali and Hatta.

Al Khateeb said the goal behind the new system was to reach as many people as possible and make it easier for them to pay their fines.

Around Dh1 billion in fines was paid last year, which amounts to 70 per cent of the total fines, Al Khateeb indicated. The remaining unpaid 30 per cent include fines that had not been paid for years, and he said these were good figures.
