Abu Dhabi saw a spree of car thefts on a single day when valuables from 21 vehicles parked in the same area were looted on Sunday night.

Residents who had parked their cars in Street 32 in Khalifa City, were shocked to see their vehicles broken into on Monday morning, reported 'Gulf News'.

One of the victims said the rear window of his car was shattered and Dh600 taken.

However, the thieves were kind enough to leave behind his car documents.

Criminal Investigation Representatives from Abu Dhabi Police have taken finger prints from the site.

Amru Essam, another victim and resident of the area, said he found his car was broken into when he set out to work at 6.30am.

Only Dh50 was left inside, which the thieves took but left credit cards and documents untouched, he added.

All the cars were vandalised similarly, he added.

The thieves took only cash and valuable and left behind documents and cards.

Abu Dhabi Police have not yet commented on the crime.
