One of richest men in Yemeni province started off as 'beggar'

In a key Yemen province, a man gifted his wife an expensive Toyota Land Cruiser and is building a hotel and a shopping mall.

The man is believed to be one of the wealthiest persons in the province although he started from the scratch — he was a beggar.

Mohammed Taher had virtually nothing when he left his home in the southwestern Yemeni province of Lahij and headed for nearby Saudi Arabia in 2003.

In the first few months of his work as a carpenter in the western Saudi Red Sea port of Jeddah, Taher discovered that beggars were earning far more than he earned.

“He decided to try begging and the idea did work. In a few months, large sums of money began pouring into his pockets.
“He decided to turn to begging as a profession and continued begging until this year,” the Yemeni Sinbad news site said.
“He has just returned to his home province.

The first thing he did was to gift his wife a land cruiser car and a land plot for her faithfulness, dedication to the family and efforts to keep the home for 10 years in his absence.

“Taher seems to have made a fortune from begging and is now building a hotel and shops in the province.”
