They would want to be policemen like their father when they grew up.

But it’s a dream that would not come true to a two-year-old boy anymore, as he was accidentally shot dead by his four-year-old brother while playing with their father’s gun.

The two boys were doing ‘pulis-pulisan’ (playing cops-and-robbers) at their home in Barangay Lingat, in the northern Philippine city of San Fernando, La Union province when the accident happened.

In a radio message received by the National Operation Center of the Philippine National Police, in San Fernando City on Tuesday, Police Officer 2 Nestor Gapuz said the older boy took his father’s Glock-23 and chased his younger brother.

Gapuz said the older boy accidentally clicked the trigger of the 9-millimetre gun while aiming at his younger brother, who was playing the role of a robber. The bullet entered his face and exited through his head.

The victim was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The San Fernando City Police Station has withheld the names of the two boys and their father pending further investigation.
