MANILA (Sun, Feb 17)—A husband shot to death his adulterous wife in Dueñas town in the central Philippine province of Iloilo, and then hanged himself.
Radio reports said that Ethan Solero, 27, was enraged when his wife, 28-year-old Irene, met up with her text mate for the second time last week.
Police Inspector Bonifacio Alabe, chief of Dueñas Police Station, told reporters that Solero shot Irene while she was sleeping in their house in Barangay Malusgod, and then went to his parents’ home in Barangay Tina, in the same town.
Solero’s body was found hanging from a mango tree yesterday—a case of suicide, according to police investigation.
Police said it was a clear case of crime of passion, which stemmed from a love triangle, based on the exchanges of text messages between Irene and her still unidentified text mate.
Authorities did not indicate whether Irene’s text mate was under investigation or should be invited over for questioning.
