Man shoots wife for leaving him for lover

MANILA: A woman was shot dead while her lover has been fighting for his life since Sunday when her estranged husband attacked them in Zamboanga City, capital of the southern Philippine province of Zamboanga del Sur.

This crime of passion had stemmed from a blazing jealousy that Elvin Alejandro felt towards Angelo Alvarez, the younger, more good-looking and muscled live-in partner of his estranged wife Victoria Alejandro.

Elvin is at large and the police are hunting for him, according to radio reports that quoted Chief Inspector Ariel Huesca, also spokesman of Police Regional Office 9 in Zamboanga City.

Police said that Victoria, who separated from Elvin last February, was already dead due to a gunshot wound to the head when they arrived at the home she had been sharing with Alvarez in Barangay Salaan.

Alvarez, who has sustained gunshot wounds to his body, was rushed to Zamboanga City Medical Centre, where he is in a critical condition, after Elvin attacked him and Victoria inside their home at about 9.30am on June 2.

Police said that Elvin’s anger got the better of him after he received information that his estranged wife had been living in with another guy, who is more handsome and much younger than him.
