A stay-in helper at a warehouse was pronounced dead on arrival at a hospital in Pasay City, a suburb of Metro Manila, after a fight with his godfather.
Allan Clemente, of legal age, succumbed to his wounds when the 45-year-old Mario Espiritu, who stood as a sponsor to the former’s wedding, attacked him with a knife following an altercation while they were drinking whiskey.
Both men worked at Promax Warehouse at 2242-B FB Harrison Street, Pasay City. It was not known immediately what the suspect and the victim were arguing about before the fateful incident.
Espiritu has surrendered to the police, and is facing charges of homicide, according to Senior Police Officers 1 (SPO1) Genomar Geraldino and Roderick Navarro.
The policemen told a daily tabloid on Monday that based on their investigation, Messieurs Clemente and Espiritu were drinking at the warehouse with the latter’s nephew, Ernie Nicolas, on Sunday evening when the fateful incident happened.
The policemen have called in Nicolas for questioning while the family of Clemente is preparing to file formal charges against Espiritu.
