PM Nawaz Sharif, Imran Khan condemn attack

Pakistan's Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif strongly condemns the barbaric Taliban attack on an army-run school in Pakistan on Tuesday.

Sharif says those behind the heinous act will not be spared.

The country’s premier gives strict instructions to concerned officials to rescue students and teachers safely.

He further instructs Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan to personally monitor the rescue operation in Peshawar.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan condemns Peshawar attack, says terrorist attack on innocent kid is worst ever form of barbarism.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Vice Chairman, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and former Foreign Minister of Pakistan also condemned the attack.

He wrote on Twitter, "Strongly condemn the cowardly attack on Peshawar school. Thoughts & prayers are with the kids and the school staff involved in the incident."

Jahangir Khan Tareen, philanthropist and politician took to Twitter to pray for the victims.

He wrote, "May Allah keep the hostage children safe . My prayers and all our prayers for their safety and to oil the terrorists bid to attack innocents."

Pakistan Defence representatives have appealed for blood donors to step up in Peshawar in wake of the attack, tweeted on its official account: “URGENT BLOOD REQUIRED: People of Peshawar are requested to reach Lady reading Hospital for donation of Blood.”

The Attack:

23 dead as Taliban militants attack military school in Pakistan's Peshawar.

Jamil Shah, a spokesman for Lady Reading Hospital, says the killed soldier was a member of the Pakistani paramilitary forces.

Taliban gunmen took hundreds of students and teachers hostage on Tuesday in a school in the northwestern city of Peshawar, military officials at the scene said.

Pakistani television showed soldiers surrounding the area and pushing people back.
