1.5 kg tumour removed from woman’s face

Saudi doctors removed a tumor weighing around 1.5 kg from a woman’s face in a successful eight-hour operation at a hospital in the Gulf Kingdom.

The woman, who was not named, had suffered from the tumor for at least 10 years as it spread from the lower left jaw to the right side of her face and neck.

“The operation was successful and it did not affect the patient’s veins and arteries…..she was even not admitted to the intensive care unit after the surgery,” said Dr Awad Al Bashri, who led a medical team in performing the operation at a government hospital in the Western Saudi town of Makkah.

“She stayed at hospital for three days after which she was discharged without any complications and in a good condition.”
