16kg tumor removed from Saudi girl’s belly

Saudi doctors removed a 15-kg tumor from the abdomen of a 17-year-old girl in an operation that last several hours after which she started to improve.

Scanning images showed the girl was admitted with belly swelling and severe pains into a public hospital in the southern Saudi town of Khamis Mushait.

“Doctors succeeded in removing the cystic tumor which weighed around 15 kg and was around 25 cm long…the patient was discharged three days after the operation,” the Arabic language daily Sabq said, quoting a surgeon at the hospital.
