Saudi Arabia told its BlackBerry users they would get an additional free three-day subscription to compensate them for the services disruption due to technical fault by the Canadian manufacturers, the local press said on Tuesday.

The Saudi Telecommunication Company (STC), the Kingdom’s largest mobile phone service provider, said the free period would start from Tuesday following the collapse of BlackBerry service on Monday.

“In appreciation of our customers, STC has decided to extend their subscription for free three days to compensate them for the failure in services,” STC said in a statement carried by Saudi newspapers.

It said the disruption was out its control but added services were gradually returning to the Kingdom, the largest Arab economy.

BlackBerry manufacturers, Research in Motion, said on Monday services were disrupted in many parts of the Middle East and other region due to a technical problem. The facility was partially restored in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and other regional countries on Tuesday.
