355kg Saudi man hospitalised

A 39-year-old Saudi man weighing nearly 355 kg was finally moved to a specialised hospital in the Gulf kingdom for treatment.

Hassan bin Mohammed Al Sumaini has been bed-ridden for many years after a rapid increase in his weight due to health problems.

Sumaini, a resident of the southern province of Jazan, was flown on Tuesday to King Fahd Medical City in Riyadh, one of the largest health centres in the Middle East.

“He will receive treatment for obesity at King Fahd Medical City after a sharp rise in his weight over the past years,” a hospital statement said.
