80 lashes for attempt to rape teen

A 19-year-old Saudi man is to be lashed with the whip 80 times for trying to rape his friend’s teen-age son, local newspapers reported on Wednesday.

A court in the eastern town of Qatif found the man guilty of attempting to rape the 14-year-old boy and also sentenced him to 10 months in prison.

“The man tried to rape that boy but failed after another man intervened and saved the boy,” Alriyadh newspaper said.

It quoted the boy’s father as saying his friend used their friendship to get close to his son. “He seduced him and tried to rape him…I considered him as my son but he stabbed me in the back,” the father said.
