Baby kidnapper seized in Saudi

Saudi police have arrested a Pakistani woman who had snatched a newborn baby from hospital before texting his father to tell him about his son’s whereabouts, the Saudi Arabic language daily Alyoum reported on Friday.

The woman, who has been married to a Saudi for 15 years, told police she had done so after her own baby died and she was left without children.

“I am not filing a case against that woman and I forgive her to celebrate the success of the King’s surgery,” the paper quoted the baby’s father, Badr Al Mazeeni, as saying hours after the Pakistani woman was caught.

The unnamed woman snatched the baby, Anas, from hospital in the central town of Madina last week just hours after he was born.

Four days later, she sent a text to his father’s mobile phone telling him she had left his son at a park in town. Police found the baby well-wrapped in the park and handed him over to his parents, who said he was in a good condition.
