Child-seducer to get 50 lashes in public

A young Saudi is to be lashed 50 times in public after he sneaked into a school in the Gulf Kingdom and tried to seduce some of its pupils, the Saudi online Arabic language paper Alsaudi reported on Sunday.

The unidentified man, wearing sports clothes, entered the school in the western port of Jeddah and asked one pupil to come with him to give him a hand in carrying a gas cylinder but the boy refused, the paper said.

The man tried to grab another boy but he ran away and told the school’s head master, who called the police.

The court sentenced the man, who had been convicted before of car theft, to three months in prison and 50 lashes with the whip in public.

“The school guard should be more careful next time and prevent any stranger from entering the school,” said Adel Jamaan, an education ministry adviser.

“This event underscores the need to match schools in the United States which promote the concept among their children that they should not talk to strangers…this idea should be supported by parents.”
