A Qatari court heard a record high number of 300 cases involving dud cheques in just one day following a surge in such offences in the world’s wealthiest nation.

“The judge at the court of misdemeanor yesterday heard 300 dud cheque cases in just one session,” the Qatari Sharq Arabic language daily said.

“It was the highest number of such cases to be heard in one day….recently, daily average dud cheque cases heard by the court ranged between 150 and 200.”

The paper said the court began to hear hundreds of dud cheque cases following a surge in such offences as a result of the business and economic boom in Qatar, the fastest growing economy and the wealthiest nation by GDP per capita.
