Dad, kids drown trying to save each other

A Saudi man and his two children died while trying to save each other from drowning at a beach in the Gulf kingdom, a newspaper reported on Tuesday.

The three were strolling on the seaside in the eastern port of Dammam on Saturday when the girl went in the water to swim before she screamed for help.

Her elder brother jumped after her but both appeared to be drowning, prompting the father to dive in a bid to save them.

“The father, his son and daughter downed as they tried to save each other. Police divers later retrieved out their bodies,” Sabq daily said.

Man ends life with metal clothes hanger

A Saudi man suffering from mental illness committed suicide by wrapping a metal wire used as clothes hanger around his neck, a newspaper reported on Tuesday.

The man, in his 20s, ended his life just hours after he was taken out of hospital by his family to spend the Eid Al Fitr holiday with them.

Police said the family found the man dead in his room with the wire wrapped tightly around his neck at his home in the northern Saudi border town of Arar.
