First group of UAE pilgrims arrive in Madinah for Haj

The first batch of pilgrims from the UAE arrived in Madinah, Saudi Arabia, via the Prince Mohammed bin Abdul Aziz International Airport.

Members of the UAE Haj Mission in Madinah received the pilgrims.

The mission is working round the clock to provide pilgrims with all amenities in order to perform the Haj, the fifth pillar of Islam.

Over 900,000 pilgrims arrive at holy lands

The number of pilgrims coming from abroad for this year's Haj season 2015 since the start of their arrival reached 909,604 till yesterday, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Saturday.

According to statistics of the General Directorate of Passports, 888,165 pilgrims arrived by air, 12,802 pilgrims by land, and 8,637 pilgrims by sea, a drop of 5269 compared to the number of arrivals for the same period last year, by a percentage of 0.57 per cent.
