Flight delayed after birds get into engine

A scheduled Saudia domestic flight was delayed for hours after several birds got stuck inside the engine just before landing, a newspaper said on Monday.

Passengers who have just boarded flight number 1719 from the southern town of Baha to the western Red Sea port of Jeddah were told to leave the aircraft and wait in the lounge, the Arabic language daily 'Sabq' said.

“Passengers were told by cabin crew members that the flight would be delayed because of maintenance after some birds got stock in the engine just before it landed at Baha airport,” it said.

The paper said the plane was due to fly at noon on Wednesday and that the passengers were still waiting until after 2pm.
