A Saudi child who was devouring his favourite daily chips snack he bought from a local shop abruptly stopped crunching as he gazed in horror at the fried mouse inside the bag, a Saudi newspaper reported on Friday.
Officials at the Makkah City Secretariat (municipality) said they had been informed by the child’s father about the chips bag containing a dead mouse and were taking measures against the local manufacturing company.
“The father phoned the secretariat and told officials that his son found a friend and salted dead mouse inside the chips bag he bought from the shop,” Sahafaonline Arabic language paper said.
The secretariat’s health section confirmed that the bag contained a dead mouse before it was opened as the rodent was stuck to pieces of chips.
The paper quoted a secretariat official as saying necessary measures would be taken against the manufacturing company since the chips bag carried dates showing it has not expired yet.
