A poor Saudi man left his wife and one-year-old son and travelled to another area in the Gulf Kingdom after promising them he would return with some money. His wife has died and his son is now 40-years old, but the man has never turned up.

“The need to support a poor family leads to a mystery disappearance of a Saudi man,” Sabq Arabic language daily said in its story headline.

The paper said Nahari al Jabiri left his house in the southern province of Jazan and headed for Western Saudi Arabia in search for work nearly 39 years ago.

“I am now 40 but never heard of my father again. We do not know whether he is alive or dead and why he has disappeared,” his son said. “My mother had fallen ill and died but I am still thinking of my father and what happened to him.”

Baby killed during parents’ argument

A 14-month-old Saudi girl was killed when her father pulled her violently off his wife’s arms during a heated argument between the two at their house in the Gulf Kingdom, a newspaper reported on Monday.

Relatives had intervened to stop the argument between the couple in the southern town of Beesh before the father lunged forward and pulled the baby out of his wife’s grip.

“The baby fell right on her head, leading to a fracture in her skill…she died instantly,” the Arabic language daily said, adding that police arrested the man and his wife.
