Kuwaiti authorities arrested the pilot of a Dubai-Kuwaiti flight after passengers informed airport police that he might be drunk, a newspaper said on Thursday.

Customs agents at Kuwait’s international airport stopped the unnamed Kuwaiti pilot after receiving information from some passengers aboard the Kuwaiti Airways flight, suspecting the pilot could be drunk.

The Arabic language daily Alanba said the pilot was furious when he was stopped by customs agents and asked to open his luggage.“The pilot started to swear at the customs men, prompting them to call the duty officer…when the officer tried to speak to the pilot, he insulted him and said he could stomp on his stars,” the paper said.

It said police later arrested the pilot to check if he was under the influence of alcohol. He will also face charges of insulting public employees.
