High school student can't read, school shut

Jordanian authorities shut down a private school for one year after one of its high school student was unable to read, newspapers reported on Thursday.

A committee formed by Jordan's Education Ministry found that the student's marks in the final examination were too low in all subjects.

The committee found that the student 'does not deserve' to sit for the exam and that the school violated education rules in this respect, the Ministry said in a statement carried by Jordanian newspapers.

The committee discovered that the student was unable to 'read and write' and decided to shut down the school for one year, the statement said.
