'Homesick' Asian maid tries to end life

An Asian housemaid in Saudi Arabia used a kitchen knife to end her life but was saved at hospital, where she said she attempted a suicide because she was homesick, newspapers in the Gulf Kingdom reported on Sunday.

The maid, in her 20s, was rushed to hospital with heavy bleeding after she stabbed herself at her employer’s house in the Kingdom’s eastern region.

“She said she tried to commit a suicide because she feels homesick and could not adapt to the new life her,” police spokesman Lt Colonel Ziad Ruqaiti said.
