Indonesian maid commits suicide in Saudi

An Indonesian housemaid in Saudi Arabia committed a suicide by hanging herself with a rope tied to her room’s ceiling, the online Alsaudi Arabic language paper reported on Friday.

The housewife found the 27-year-old maid hanged in her room in the northern town of Hafr Al-Batin and tried to save her but was already dead, the paper said.

Police opened an investigation to determine the motive and the cause of the death of the maid, who had been due to return home within few days.

“There is no evidence of violence…this indicates that the maid hanged herself. Her body has been kept at the morgue pending forensic examination,” said Brigadier Bandar Almakhlaf, a police spokesman.
