Kidnappers of Saudi girls may be executed

Two Saudi men who tried to kidnap two local girls before one of them foiled the attempt by turning the car over could be executed, a newspaper reported on Monday.

'Ajel' Arabic language daily said police on Sunday arrested the second captor who was on the run after he fled when the car overturned.

The other one was arrested on the spot after the car overturned and attracted a large number of local residents.

“This crime is considered as an aggression against a human life and honour and on national security. The two could be sentenced to death,” the paper said, quoting Rayan Al Mufti, a well-known Saudi legal adviser.

The incident took place last week when a 23-year-old Saudi girl succeeded in aborting the attempt by the two men to kidnap her and her handicapped sister when she abruptly pulled the hand brake, causing the captors’ car to overturn.

The girl and her 20-year-old sister were walking to their home in the southern Jazan province when they were intercepted by the two men, who forced them into their car.
