Killers of brother sent to psychiatry hospital

Saudi authorities have sent three sisters involved in the beheading of their brother to a psychiatry hospital to check whether they are mentally normal before trying them, a newspaper reported on Sunday.

Two younger sisters are expected to be released from jail shortly after police found they were not involved in the heinous crime, Sabq said.

“Three sisters have been sent to a psychiatry hospital in Taif for mental examination to check whether they are normal or not,” the paper said.

The three sisters, aged below 22 years, committed the murder last month, when they waited for their half-brother to sleep, stormed into his room with axes and knives and stabbed him to death before severing his head.

The girls told police they had killed their 18-year-old brother because he was a drug addict who had molested them but his elder brother rebuffed their claims, saying they were all mentally ill.

The victim, their brother from their mother, had come to visit his mother in the northern Saudi town of Hafr Al Batin and decided to spend the night before heading back to his home in the central city of Buraidah.

Fearing an attack by his sisters following arguments and fights in the past, the brother decided to sleep in the upper floor and locked his bedroom.

“He knew that he could be attacked as our sisters had threatened him more than once….once he was in the bedroom in the upper floor, they went up and stormed into the room with knives and axes….they were on him and gave him no chance to wake up and defend himself,” his brother told Sabq.

Police said the sisters confessed to murdering their brother and that they claimed they had done so because he kept molesting them.

Police found their brother, in his 20s, lying in a pool of blood in his room and his head was cut off following the attack by his sisters. His 60-year-old father, who first saw the body, informed the police about the crime.
