Kuwaiti teen films herself before ending life

A 16-year-old Kuwaiti girl stole her father’s gun, went into the bathroom and filmed herself with the mobile phone while aiming the gun at her head before pulling the trigger, a newspaper in the Gulf emirate reported on Monday.

Her father, a police man, and the other family members were jolted out of their beds by the shot in the early hours of the morning.

When he broke the bathroom door, he found his daughter lying dead a pool of blood next to his gun and her mobile phone.

“Police looked into her mobile phone and saw the picture of the girl aiming the gun at her head,” Alwatan daily said, adding that police are questioning the family about the causes that led the girl to end her life.
 

Kuwaiti killer sentenced to death in Saudi

A Saudi court sentenced a Kuwait man to death after he was convicted of murdering a Saudi man while visiting the Gulf Kingdom for pilgrimage.

The defendant was in Saudi Arabia in 2011 with his mother and sister for the annual pilgrimage season in Makkah when he had an argument with a Saudi at a shop.

The argument developed into a fight, during which the Kuwait used a knife to stab the Saudi in his neck. He then rushed him to hospital but the Saudi died later.

Okaz newspaper said the Kuwaiti fled after learning of the Saudi man’s death but was arrested by police later.

Under Islamic law, convicted killers in Saudi Arabia can escape execution if pardoned by the victim’s relatives in return for diya (blood money).
