Maid gouges child’s eye

Saudi police arrested an Indonesian housemaid after she gouged the eye of her employer’s child while beating her, a newspaper reported on Sunday.

Doctors used laser technology to treat the six-year-old girl but said she would not restore her normal sight because of the damage caused by the maid.

Employers of the maid, identified as Huweida, said they rushed to their daughter’s bed room after they heard her screaming.

“The parents said they found that their baby was bleeding in the eye after the maid beat her up, using her hands and legs,” Shams Arabic language daily said in a report from the western town of Taif.

“The maid told police she had done so because the child would not stop crying…her employers said the maid had been nice since they hired her six years ago but that she began to change over the past month after she met another Indonesian maid and a driver in the area.”
