An Indonesian housemaid in Saudi Arabia risked her life to save the baby of her employers when she fought a snake crawling towards her cradle before killing it.
The maid was entering the baby’s bedroom to feed her, when she saw the snake creeping near the cradle at her employer’s house while the family was out.
“She rushed and lifted the baby out of her cradle and put her in another room. She then brought a large stick and followed the snake until she cornered her near the bed,” the Saudi Sabq Arabic language daily said.
“The maid then began hitting the snake with the stick on its head until it died,” it added in a report from the western town of Makkah.
The paper quoted the child’s father Saleh al Jahni as saying he had invited friends for a party to honour his maid for “her courageous act.”
