An Ethiopian housemaid in Saudi Arabia lost her temper, grabbed her employer’s 18-month-old girl by the neck and tried to strangle her before she was overpowered by neighbors, newspapers in the Gulf Kingdom reported on Tuesday.
The baby’s mother screamed to her neighbors in the northeastern town of Hafr Al Batin when she saw the maid wrapping both hands around the girl’s neck and trying to strangle her, the papers said.
Both the mother and the neighbors joined hands to save the girl and overpower the maid, in her 40s. The baby was taken to hospital with injuries while the maid was arrested, the papers said, adding that police were investigating the maid’s motives.
