Man drives 30km in wrong direction at 150kmph

An elderly Saudi man drove his four-wheel Toyota Land cruiser nearly 40km in the wrong direction at 150 kph but it was not clear if he did this on purpose.

A YouTube film lasting more than six minutes showed the vehicle cruised at a high speed on the motorway in a rugged area outside the capital Riyadh.

A Saudi man who was passing in that area used his mobile phone to film the dangerous act on Tuesday, but said the man reached his target safely.

'Sada' newspaper which published the film said it had attracted more than 100,000 viewers in just three days.

“The driver looked more than 65 years of age. It was not clear if he did not realise he was driving in the wrong direction or he was making a shortcut,” the Saudi man said, adding that he tried in vain to persuade the driver to slow down.
