Man held for sticking “tribe symbol” on car

Saudi police chased a car on a motorway and arrested its driver for sticking his tribe’s symbol on the vehicle in violation of a ban on such a practice, a newspaper in the Gulf Kingdom reported on Tuesday.

The driver was stopped by a police patrol after a chase on the speedway between the western towns of Jeddah and Makkah, Sabq said.

“The patrol stopped the car and detained the driver for sticking his tribe’s slogan on the rear windshield,” the Arabic language daily said.

“The slogan violates a decision issued by the ministry of interior a few years ago banning sticking tribal, regional or racial slogans on vehicles.”
