Man tries to end life for lost finger

A Saudi man in his 20s tried to commit a suicide by jumping from the sixth floor in a hospital in the Gulf Kingdom after doctors amputated his finger in a surgery.

The man had begged doctors not to cut his finger off after he suffered from a severe hand injury in a road accident but they told him there is no other option.

A day after the operation, he opened the window in his room in the hospital in the southern Baha town and tried to jump down.

“Patients in his room rushed and succeeded in catching him before he could jump down…he told police later that he wanted to end his life on the grounds he would not be able to marry because his finger was amputated,” Sabq daily said.
