Mole exposes child swap at Saudi hospital

A Saudi man who was given the wrong baby just after his wife’s delivery at a local hospital quickly discovered that the boy is not his son after noticing the disappearance of a mole on his ear, a newspaper reported on Sunday.

The man said he was about to leave hospital in the central town of Unaizah with his wife on the next day when he noticed that a mole he saw and filmed on his son’s right ear just after his delivery was not there, according to Sada newspaper.

“His wife told him she had a feeling that the baby is not hers…the man then checked the baby’s right ear but the mole was not there,” it said.

“He reported the case to the hospital’s manager, who ordered a DNA test…it showed that the parents were given the wrong baby after their birth bracelets were swapped by mistake by the nurses…three nurses were suspended after the incident.”
