Mum gives son sleeping pill to stop wedding

A Yemeni woman gave her son a sleeping pill and locked him up to stop his wedding because of a rift with the bride’s father.

The woman told her son, just before he was to head in a motorcade for his wedding, that he needs a stimulant drug to have a perfect marriage.

After giving him the sleeping pill, she asked her son to go into her room and get some of her jewellery to gift it to his bride.

“Once he went in, his mother locked the door. She then went to the wedding and pretended to look for her son,” the Saudi Arabic language daily 'Sada' said in a report from the western Yemeni province of Al Hudaydah.

“After waiting for several hours for the groom to come, the bride’s father decided to postpone the wedding. He later knew what the groom’s mother did and vowed that he would not agree to the marriage unless the groom promises to move to another city to keep his daughter away from his mother.”
