Online job sites most effective: poll
Majority of people find online job sites to be the most effective recruitment method as they offer the fastest route to land in jobs. However, a considerable number of job seekers continue to rely on newspaper job advertisements and recruitment agencies, according to a survey.
In an online poll on 'recruitment methods in Mena 2010-2011’ by Bayt.com, 34.5 per cent respondents said online job sites are the most effective method, while 25.7 per cent found newspaper jobs useful. About 11.2 per cent believed in recruitment agencies, 10.2 per cent went by word of mouth and nine per cent approached job fairs.
However, most people have posted their resume on online jobsites, the survey found, with 42.7 per cent respondents saying at least 10 per cent of their friends and family have their resumes registered with online job sites.
In the poll conducted between October and November 10, involvong 14,487 respondents, about 20.2 per cent found online job sites fastest, easiest and most effective way to land a job and 12.8 per cent said they allowed them to access jobs outside their country. About 51.2 per cent said they had no issues with having their resumes on a jobsite as it allowed them direct access to employers, while 10 per cent said they knew more than five people who had found their jobs online.
