An African man assaulted a compatriot and raped her in public while she was performing pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia last week, a local daily said Wednesday.
Scores of pilgrims and other passers-by tried in vain to force the defiant assailant off the woman in Makkah on the second day of Eid Al Adha, Sharq said.
“They then called the civil defence men who happened to be in the area…after they could not take him off the woman, the civil defence used an electric stick on him and carried him to their nearby car,” the paper said.
“The man was still resisting inside the car as he sprayed them with the fire extinguisher…but they overpowered him and handed him over to the police,” Sharq added, without identify the man and the victim.
