Preacher held for practicing sorcery

Saudi Arabia’s Islamic police arrested a Moroccan Moslem preacher for practicing sorcery inside a mosque in the Gulf Kingdom, where black art and all other magic activities are strictly banned, press reports said on Monday.

Posting as a client, a member of the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice, went to the 54-year-old preacher at his mosque in the western town of Makkah and asked for help in his presumed company, Ajel said.

“He told the Imam (preacher) that he wants his manager at the company to promote him,” the paper said.

“The preacher told him he can do so for SR3,000 ($800)…when he handed the preacher the money, other Commission members rushed in and arrested him…they found in his mosque bedroom talismans and other magic items.”
