Qatar blaze: Mall, nursery owners arrested

Qatari authorities arrested the owner of a key shopping mall and a woman who owns a nursery inside the mall in Doha following the blaze that killed 19 people, including 13 children, the official media in the Gulf country reported.

Qatar’s public prosecutor ordered the arrest of Villaggio Mall owner as well as the owner of the nursery at the mall, the manager of the mall and the assistant security chief, the Qatari news agency said.

The prosecutor also summoned Villagio security manager and the licensing official at the ministry in charge of the mall in addition to other persons to be investigated about the incident.

“The arrest of those people is within the ongoing investigations conducted by the prosecution about Monday’s fire,” the agency said.

people running the nursery are responsible fot the safety of the children. it is normal that they are detained and interrogated. if they are not responsible, they will be released am sure. as for the civil defence, how on earth are they to blame. without them, it could have been a much bigger disaster. pls mr khurram, try not to make comments before knowing the truth or they will look silly remarks

Why should the people running the nursery be arrested??? If its anyone, its the civil defense, muncipality, economic department, mall management and security company that should be arrested, sued, implicated and jailed for negligance.
