Drivers who have been caught speeding by police cameras in Ras Al Khaimah can have a 50 percent reduction on their fines for five months, starting from Wednesday.

The decision, ordered by Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qassimi, benefits only cars which are caught speeding by police cameras on the roads in the northern emirate.

“The discount decision starts today and ends Dec 1. It applies to all car plate numbers, but only those which are caught by speed cameras in the emirate,” said Brigadier Ghanim Ahmed Ghanim, Central Operations Director, RAK Police.

He said the move is part of a strategy by RAK police to encourage motorists to abide by traffic rules, improve safety on roads and curb accidents.
