Rich Kuwaiti woman caught begging for alms

An old Kuwait woman seized begging emerged to be a wealthy person who is reputed for helping the poor, a local newspaper reported on Friday.

Kuwaiti police caught the 68-year-old woman as she cowered in her black gown and face veil on the ground near a co-operative society in the capital as part of an intensified drive to curb begging during Ramadan, Alanba said.

Her son told police that his mother does not need to beg because she is a major property owner who “always gives money to the poor”, the paper said.

“But he also said that she could no longer control her behaviour since she had a mental problem nearly a year ago. He told police that it was the third time his mother has been caught begging,” the paper added.
