Saudi: 1 dead in exchange of fire with wanted 'terrorists'

A Saudi serviceman was killed and five persons, including three security personnel, were injured during an exchange of fire with wanted "terrorists" in the town of Awamiya in eastern Saudi Arabia, on Sunday.

Saudi Press Agency, SPA, quoted the Interior Ministry's spokesman as saying that security forces were searching a hideout used by "terrorist elements'' in Awamiya where a quantity of machine-guns, guns, ammunition and communication devices were found.

The security forces, while searching some hideouts, came under heavy gunfire from a nearby building wounding three personnel, a civilian and an expatriate, he added.

Corporal Majed bin Turki Al-Qahtani died of wounds he sustained during the attack.
