Saudi city eyes Guinness in giant breakfast

A Saudi city is planning to stage the world’s largest breakfast in a bid to enter Guinness book of records and beat the previous breakfast record in the Netherlands, newspapers in the Gulf Kingdom reported on Saturday.

Organisers have already started preparations for the breakfast table which will stretch 175 metres along the seaside road in the eastern port of Khobar.

The 1.22-metre wide table will accommodate nearly 650 people, beating the world’s largest breakfast record achieved in the Netherlands, the papers said, quoting Helda Shehab, who was behind the idea.

“It will be held on April 12 in collaboration with Khobar Municipality….we have sent open invitations for the meal and hope we will achieve the target and enter Guinness…the idea is to educate the society about the significance of breakfast as a good nutrition value in our life,” she said.
