Saudi family gripped by 'magic sheep head' spell

A Saudi woman who suffered from cancer and infertility discovered that she and her family were under the magic spell of a skinned sheep head which was found and destroyed by anti-witchcraft experts in the Gulf Kingdom.

The family also blamed magic for the sudden rifts between the husband and his wife and for some diseases that started to affect other family members recently.

Several visits to doctors and spiritual healers had failed to produce results before the skinned sheep head was found hidden in the back garden of the family’s house in the northwestern Saudi town of Dabaa, according to the Sabq newspaper.

The sheep head contained pieces of hair, thread and talismans bearing incomprehensible words besides the names of the family members.

Sabq said the head was found by members of Saudi Arabia’s religious police — the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice.

“The Commission members found that the head was a magic spell that caused the sudden infertility to the woman and the other illnesses in the family.

“The head was taken to the Commission’s office where it its magic effects were dismantled and destroyed by counter-witchcraft experts,” the paper said.

It did not make clear who cast the spell and whether its destruction ended the family’s problems.
