Saudi Arabia’s ‘Shura’ council (appointed parliament) approved a law forcing all female TV presenters in the Gulf Kingdom to dress decently while on screen.

The Shura debated the issue at its session on Tuesday before approving the law, which has to be ratified by the cabinet, newspapers said.

They said the law covers various activities in the TV and radio networks in the world’s dominant oil exporter, including stronger censorship by the government.

“The law also forces all female presenters on television channels operating in the Kingdom to wear the official Saudi dress and have decent appearance,” ‘Ajel’ daily said, quoting Shura assistant speaker Yehya Al Samaan.

An Asian shepherd was found hanging in his room in Saudi Arabia and police said they believe he had committed a suicide.

The unidentified shepherd was found dead by his Saudi employer in his room near the northeastern town of Khafji, according to ‘Sabq’ newspaper.

It quoted police spokesman Colonel Ziad Al Rugaiti as saying the body was sent to the coroner for examination and that the shepherd had apparently committed a suicide.
