Saudi groom divorces his ‘over-romantic’ bride

A Saudi man divorced his wife just three months after their marriage because she was over-romantic, a newspaper in the Gulf kingdom said on Monday.

The unnamed man acted after he was shocked that his wife has spent a large sum of money on buying candles and other items to make her house look more romantic, the Arabic language daily Sada said.

‘The husband accused his wife of having illusions after she spent a large sum of money and borrowed SR5,000 from her sister-in-law to buy a big quantity of candles and other items to make her home look more romantic,” the paper said.

“He then divorced her as he preferred not to have children from a woman who has such illusions,” it added without mentioning where the couple lived in Saudi Arabia.
