Two major Saudi tribes agreed to end a seven-year feud sparked by a deadly fight between some of their men following a successful mediation by a member of the royal family, a newspaper reported on Saturday.

The Damashiqa and Damnan tribes signed a document ending the dispute in response to the mediation by Prince Mashaal bin Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz of the southern province of Najran near the border with Yemen, Alwatan said.

“Chiefs of the two tribes signed a document ending the seven-year-old dispute in response to Prince’s Mashaal’s initiative following intensive mediation efforts by other dignitaries over the past years,” it said.

The feud began when a fight between some men from the two tribes resulted in the death of two people and injury of several others seven years ago.
