Saudi villager captures thunderbolt photo

A Saudi villager who was photographing clouds during heavy rain in the Gulf Kingdom captured a thunderbolt that struck his village but caused no casualties.

Mahmoud Al Wadani said he was just outside his village in the southern Jazan province and was aiming his camera phone at the sky when the bolt struck.

Sabq newspaper published a picture of the lightning and quoted Wadani as saying it did not cause any casualties or damage.

On Thursday, police said a Yemeni farmer in the nearby town of Damad was killed by lightning during heavy rain that lashed south Saudi Arabia.
