A Saudi woman got a shock when she was told that she had committed traffic offences although females are now allowed to drive in the conservative Gulf Kingdom.
The unnamed woman was having her mobile phone SIM card updated at the state-owned Saudi Telecommunication Company when she was told she must first pay SR2,000 (Dh2,000) traffic fines.
Sada newspaper quoted the woman as saying she had rented a car for her husband as she is not permitted to drive in Saudi Arabia.
“I have not imagined that I will get traffic fines in my name when women are not allowed to drive in the country,” she said.
